The life and times of Linda Jean Bagley
A follower, and humbly faithful servant, of our Lord Jesus Christ, Linda was born in Portland, Oregon, August 4th, 1947, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona; the first of eight children born to Vern Lyle Seaman and Lois Irene McBurney Seaman. Named with the Spanish word for “beautiful, cute, caring and fun”, Linda’s life boldly challenged the limits of this definition raising it to the higher standard God intended. She was an excellent student blessed with gifts and talents who attended Maryvale High School, then Arizona State University and Azusa Pacific University to earn her Bachelor of Arts. Later, she returned to Azusa Pacific University to earn a Masters and license as a Marriage & Family Therapist. Eventually, Linda taught graduate school and traveled internationally to lecture and train counselors in China, Japan and Mexico.
As the wife of a pastor, Linda actively participated with and served Grace Community Church in Tempe, Arizona, El Dorado Park Community Church in Long Beach, California and Lake Hills Community Church in Laguna Hills, California. She also led as a Bible study teacher in women’s ministries and spoke with Stonecroft Women’s Connection. In her final years, Linda was a part of the core team of a Vineyard “Home-House” church located in Foothill Ranch, California.
In 1991, Linda co-founded Marriage & Family Matters, a provider of Christian counseling and supervision solutions. Over a 21 year career, she not only built a thriving counseling business serving a robust client list, she also trained and supervised several dozen Masters and PhD level students in her role as Director of Clinical Supervision.
Around 2005, Linda participated with a speaking tour in Japan. Her sessions were so popular, she became an internationally renowned “world-famous therapy rock-star”. Every August since, Linda received visits from groups of Japanese therapists and patients who traveled half-way around the world to be trained and/or counseled by her.
In 2011, Linda co-founded and oversaw the development of OneTouchPractice.com, a software-as-a-service technology solution automating the best practices she refined over her two decades of professional therapy practice and supervision.
Over 2012, Linda authored the book Establishing & Maintaining Credibility as a Therapist in which she unpacked her Four C’s of Confrontation among other conceptual tools. And in 2013, Linda achieved another prestigious distinction by presenting materials from her book while teaching a continuing education class at Hope International University.
Linda was an avid hostess, always ready to throw a party together. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, mending and reupholstering furniture in addition to designing and producing stunning one-of-a-kind wedding gowns. A lover of music and gifted voice, Linda enjoyed singing hymns and songs made famous by Julie Andrews. And Linda was an exceptional chef and masterful cake artist whose culinary creations amazed attendees of weddings and birthdays, and even won news media attention.
Linda (a.k.a. “Grandma Cinnamon”, “Grandma Spice”, and/or “Gramma Sugar”) is survived by her husband Steven David Bagley, two granddaughters Tori Jean Howorth and Madeline Jean Bagley, five grandsons Isaac Thomas Bagley, Tyler Jack Howorth, Grant Kammermann Bagley, Toby James Howorth and Timothy John Howorth, her daughter Stefani Jean Howorth and her husband James Byron, her son David Todd Bagley and his wife Corinna Terese, all seven siblings Rick Howard Seaman, Janeen Leanna Seaman Goering, Judy Laurel Seaman Freegard, Kevin Lyle Seaman, Heidi Ann Seaman Cook, Merri Nelle Seaman Eubank and Keith Daniel Seaman; and her cousin Susan Kay Seaman among her other extended family.
In Heaven, Linda joins her parents and grandson Jackson David Bagley among other family members. The “little girl from Arizona”, who together with her “boy from Idaho” conquered the world, now walks as a princess on streets of gold. Hallelujah, His name be praised.
In 2004 Linda's Cardiologist found a 95% blockage in an artery that directly supplied blood to Linda's heart. A stint was put in place immediately, and a second stint was placed in another artery within the next year. Linda doubled her efforts to maintain her health and was very aggressive about doing whatever she could to live a life filled with touches of love. In November 2012 she had a checkup with positive results showing a stronger heart.
Friday night, February 1, 2013, after a seemingly normal day with friends and family, Linda went to sleep. During the night she slipped away peacefully in her sleep, a queen's death.
